FRIDAY NOON: Nearly one in five brits visit Melton specifically to sample our world-famous mouth-watering pork pies - a survey has revealed.
More than 22,000 brits were surveyed last month by leading on-line travel agents Expedia.co.uk
The findings showed more people come to Melton just to sample our delicious pork pies than people go to Roquefort in France for Roquefort cheese, Italy for Parmesan cheese or go to the harbour town of Whitstable in Kent for its oysters.
In a top 10 list of 'delicious' tourist destinations Melton came second only to the Champagne producing region in France - with just over half those surveyed saying they ...
