PROPOSALS to let more diners eat al fresco in Newmarket have been thrown out.
Forest Heath Council's planning committee rejected proposals by Pizza Express to seat up to 20 customers on the corner of Sun Lane.
Council officers had recommended the plans be turned down on the grounds that outside seating would present "obstructions and dangers" to pedestrians.
In a report to the council, a police liaison officer also suggested the plans could lead to an increase in alcohol-related crime.
