THE candidates have been revealed for the May 1 local elections.
Fifteen seats are up for grabs in Hartlepool, and the first election for councillors sitting on the new unitary council for County Durham will see candidates contesting 10 wards in the east Durham area.
In Hartlepool there are 15 Labour Party candidates, 11 Conservative, eight Liberal Democrats, seven UK Independence Party, six independents and two British National Party (BNP) candidates.
In County Durham there are 20 Labour candidates, 12 Liberal Democrats, eight independents, four BNP, and three Conservatives.
