Severn Trent was fined a record pounds 35.8 million yesterday and pledged to repay customers after admitting a catalogue of failures.
The Birmingham-based water giant was penalised by industry regulator Ofwat for deliberately providing false information and poor customer service. It resulted in customers paying higher bills than they should have done, Ofwat said.
Severn, which has 3.7 million household and business customers, said it would hand back customers a total of pounds 10.6 million - or pounds 2.40 per bill - to compensate them for ...
