A leaded-glass-fiber sensor having a high refractive index was developed, permitting the evanescent wave fluorescence cure monitoring of epoxy composites at regions near the fiber surface.
Resin transfer molding (RTM) is a versatile and efficient process for producing fiber-reinforced polymer-composite structures ranging from small articles of simple shape to large' complex articles having high structural performance characteristics. While RTM has been used for nearly 50 years, it is just now beginning to find use in mass-produced, high-performance composite applications requiring fast cycle times.
