In 1927, well-known Danish/Norwegian writer Aksel Sandemose traveled to western Canada. The trip was sponsored in part by the Canadian Pacific Railway (1) with some financial aid, in kind, from the Danish newspaper Berlingske Tidende and the publishing house Gyldendal (19). The trip resulted in a series of articles and some works of fiction, all taking place in Canada.
