The Beck Depression Inventory (BDI; Beck, Steer, & Brown, 1996; Beck, Ward, Mendelson, Mock, & Erbaugh, 1961) is a widely researched self-report measure of depression. It was designed to measure the presence and severity of depression in psychiatrically diagnosed patients and in nonclinical populations of both adolescents and adults.
