PETER Colledge was fastest over the first of Matlock Cycling Club's midweek time trial courses for 2008 - although it was quite a bit shorter than organisers had planned.
Temporary traffic lights in Ashford-in-the-Water meant the five mile course was reduced to a 1.2 mile sprint.
However, a strong prevailing wind blew the riders down the A6 with Peter recording the fastest time on the night of two minutes and three seconds and an average speed of 35mph.
Richard Cordin finished second at six seconds with 2.09 and Chris Green was a further six seconds behind in 2.15.
