Two city financiers each pay themselves [pounds sterling]400m.

THE credit crunch may be starting to hit the pockets of ordinary workers- but two London-based financiers have yet to feel the pinch.

Hedge fund managers Noam Gottesman and Pierre Lagrange paid themselves[pounds sterling]400million each last year, dwarfing their [pounds sterling]250million pay packets in 2006.

This was on top of the [pounds sterling]135million in cash and [pounds sterling]324million in shares they bothnetted when their company GLG Partners was floated on the New York StockExchange in June 2007.

The two men have been dubbed 'Masters of the Universe' because of their abilityto defy the global downturn.
