Thursday night the Wild played host to Calgary, coming through with a 3-1 victory to clinch the first division title in franchise history and recording coach Jacques Lemaire's 500th victory, evidence that a season of discontent has become a season of superlatives.
Marian Gaborik has set a franchise record for points in a season, Niklas Backstrom a record for goalie victories, Brent Burns the record for points by a defenseman, and the team has surged toward the playoffs just when it seemed the coach was sick of the players, the players were sick of the coach and everyone was sick of the front office.
