A BUSINESSMAN whose failure to control pests resulted in maggots and mouse droppings at his shop in Worthing has been sentenced to 300 hours' community service.

Nazrul Rahman, of Raja Cash and Carry at 4 Dominion Buildings, Broadwater, was also ordered to pay the full prosecution costs of [pounds sterling]4,230 at Worthing Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Rahman, who was the owner of the store at the time of the offences, pleaded guilty to nine food hygiene offences and one trading standards offence.
