The hit TV costume drama Cranford, based on the novels of Elizabeth Gaskell, gave a timely boost to a new book from Oakwood and District Historical Society.
The Society has produced its seventh volume of Oak Leaves memories of the past.
And one of the articles in the new 30-page booklet is Instructions for a House Keeper dated 1813.
The notes are believed to have been written by Margaret Brockden Brown (1794-1820), American wife of William Williams Brown (1788-1856), of Allerton Hall, Stainbeck Lane.
Mrs Brown drew up a comprehensive list of orders from dawn to dusk running to over 400 words.
