Article: Afghan bomb blast kills Yorkshire Regiment soldier.

A British soldier has been killed and five injured by a roadside bomb in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence said.

The soldier, a member of the 2nd Battalion of the Yorkshire Regiment, died when the vehicle they were travelling in was hit by a mine strike near the town of Musa Qala on Sunday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been informed.

The five other British casualties were taken by helicopter to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) medical centre at Camp Bastion and Kandahar airfield.

No other details concerning their injuries were released.
