A lot of people in the media were surprised when the Twins signed closer Joe Nathan to a new four-year contract worth $47 million before the start of the season. With a rotation as young and as inexperienced as the Twins', it was believed that Nathan might be traded this year.
Well, six games into the 2008 season, the Twins have three victories and Nathan has three saves. Two have come for Livan Hernandez, including Saturday's 6-4 victory over Kansas City at the Metrodome.
General Manager Bill Smith said everything has gone as expected so far.
