New ways to teach children conventions of punctuation
There's a computer game I play sometimes in which I try to avoid getting blown up. Hit the wrong space and an exploding bomb appears telling me the game is over.
That's close to my memory of learning how to use conventions of punctuation, spelling, and grammar. I'd write a piece, then wait for the teacher to respond to my accuracy. If I used a convention incorrectly, bang, that spelled fatal error for my paper. And so there were certain conventions I'd avoid, as I knew they'd get me into trouble.
