The outcome of nontraumatic and traumatic spinal cord lesions is still a matter of debate, probably because of the different features of the 2 populations. Patients with traumatic spinal cord lesions usually are younger and often have complete lesions and a shorter interval from onset of lesion to rehabilitation admission, whereas patients with nontraumatic spinal cord lesions usually are older and often have incomplete lesions and a longer interval from onset of lesion to rehabilitation admission.
