Video dealers can expect to receive only a fraction of their orders for the anticipated 16-bit hit Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest, the third consecutive Super NES title to be allocated.
Distributors were informed in mid-October that they will receive only 3% to 20% of their orders the week of Dec. 4. The sequel's predecessor, Donkey Kong Country, sold more than 7 million copies worldwide.
According to one video-game company executive, Nintendo will roll out the game over six to seven weeks. Nintendo executives had projected sales of 4 million copies of Donkey Kong Country 2 by March 1996. With this rollout, however, that appears unlikely since many ...
