A leading figure in the Labour Party in East Lothian has called on MP Anne Moffat to let local members decide whether she should remain as Labour candidate.
Noel Foy, a former election agent, in his capacity as secretary of East Lothian Fabian Society, has written to the News urging her to be selected on a one member, one vote basis.
But the call has been rejected by a close ally of Ms Moffat who described it as "sour grapes on behalf of a bitter old man."
Three of the six Labour Party branches in East Lothian have voted against Ms Moffat's automatic re-selection.
