A SINGLE mother-of-four from Sheffield was jailed for two years this week for knocking down and killing a pensioner while holding her mobile phone at the wheel of her car.
The sentence means that one of Anne Foster-Chia's children, a 10-year-old who is autistic and suffers from epilepsy, will go into care because none of his relatives are able to give him specialist care.
Judge Robert Moore said he accepted Foster-Chia was a single mother responsible for four children, including one with severe disabilities, but the offence was "so serious only custody can be justified".
