Although the terms diaper rash and diaper dermatitis sound mundane, I still prefer them to "red fanny" or "butt burn." No matter what term you use for rash in the diaper region, this problem is quite common and occupies a good deal of physician time.
Although the term diaper rash suggests one disease requiring one type, of treatment, a variety of problems cause this skin disorder. Each cause requires a different therapeutic approach.
