In its new report, Moody's Investors Service says Portugal's Aa2 government bond ratings and stable outlook reflect a developed and diversified economy that is deeply integrated into the European economic sphere. Although the country's debt metrics have deteriorated over the past seven years, it remains well positioned within the Aa2 rating category. "Portugal went from enjoying a euro convergence boom in the 1990s to undergoing somewhat of a bust starting in 2000. Growth became sluggish, unemployment climbed and the income convergence process virtually stopped.
