A Polish worker suffered serious injuries after becoming stuck in machinery at a Humbie sawmill.
The 21-year-old had to be anesthetised as firemen attempted to free him from a heavy cutting machine.
Following a successful 45-minute rescue mission he was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary along with his father, who was in shock due to witnessing the horrific incident at Windymains Timber.
