Dr. Hinkle,
Thank you for your recent article, "Acute Ischemic Stroke Review," in the Journal of Neuroscience Nursing, Oct. 2007. We have a physician at our institution who would like to amend our stroke order set to include MAP monitoring parameters rather than BP parameters for acute ischemic stroke patients on our designated Stroke Unit (not a critical care unit). Are there benefits to MAP monitoring for stroke patients who are not in the critical care setting? If so what are the guidelines? Can you provide references regarding this?
