Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of speaking to leaders of the Outdoor Industry Association at their annual winter show in Salt Lake City. I discussed how the upcoming centennial of the National Park Service presents us with an opportunity to dramatically reverse a decadeslong decline in our national parks caused by chronic funding shortfalls.
Although I emphasized that now is the time to encourage Congress and the Administration to provide the necessary funding, it became clear to all of us that restoring our national parks is not just an opportunity, it is also our responsibility.
