We are fortunate to live in a time when black bear hunting opportunities are hardly uncommon in North America. Thanks to sound game management practices, the black bear is not only holding its own, it is expanding into areas where it has not been seen in decades. Bears can be hunted from the Pacific to the Atlantic and from Arizona to the Arctic. States that have not had a black bear season for many decades are now holding limited draws for permits, and areas that have always offered good black bear hunting are in many cases trying to find ways to deal with too many bears.
