THE PIZZA CATEGORY CONTINUES to fire on all cylinders as consumers respond to products across the segment--value, mid-price, premium and natural/healthy--and retailers continue to give the category room to flourish.

Sales were up 4.3% to $2.8 billion for the 52 weeks ending Dec. 30, 2007, according to Information Resources Inc. (IRI), Chicago, Ill.

"Pizza is among the fastest growing categories in frozen foods, yet as we have seen retailers allocate more space to pizza in 2007, there is strong opportunity for further growth in 2008," says Tim Corer, president, Kraft Pizza Co., Glenview, Ill.
