The Food and Drug Administration is taking a stand in favor of meat and milk from cloned animals.

The FDA has ruled that food from cloned animals is safe to consume and need not be identified as such to consumers. The agency had done a "draft risk assessment" late last year saying there was no discernible difference between cloned and non-cloned animals in terms of meat and milk. However, a public outcry, led by consumer groups like the Center for Food Safety, made the FDA delay its ruling. But the agency is not expected to alter its basic position.
