The independent foundation (Net Norske Veritas) has now concluded its investigations on board the Brent Spar oil storage and loading buoy. Shell's inventory estimates on heavy metals and radioactivity are confirmed through the DNV investigation, with only minor deviations. However, the total amount of oil on board is more than originally estimated by the owner Shell, but far less than estimated by the environmental organisation Greenpeace.
