Article: NEW HAMPSHIRE: A Focus on Filling the Gap and an 'Adequate' Education.

In the current two-year budget cycle, New Hampshire has plans to complete its largest general obligation borrowing for transportation infrastructure projects in a decade, while also cutting spending to cope with a projected revenue gap of $150 million.

At the same time, the state is looking for other ways to address the gap while it also attempts to fund "adequate education."

The state is facing revenue shortfalls of about $50 million for fiscal 2008, ending June 30, and another $100 million for fiscal 2009 due to "revenue underperformance resulting from continuing economic weakness and the housing slowdown," said Moody's Investors Service senior analyst ...
