The redback coffee snake, Ninia sebae frequents lowlands and premontane slopes from Veracruz and Oaxaca, Mexico, southward through Central America to southern Costa Rica where it is known from 4-1,100 m; it is a secretive, nocturnal leaf litter inhabitant (Savage 2002).
