California's Furious Theater had a big hit at the Pasadena Playhouse last year with an apocalyptic comedy set in the aftermath of global warming called Canned Peaches in Syrup.
The play is a Romeo and Juliet story set in a world where the water has dried up and the population is sharply divided into cannibals and vegetarians. Described by the Los Angeles Times as "smart and wicked" it was a sell-out, with queues for returns and several honourable mentions in the Los Angeles theatre awards.
