Surging prices push up value of Jiangsu's vegetable oil imports in Q1
Shanghai. April 16. INTERFAX-CHINA - Jiangsu Province imported 506,000 tons of edible vegetable oil during the first quarter of 2008, down 5.3 percent from the same period last year, but surging import prices caused turnover to soar 58 percent to $52 million, according to local customs authorities.
Jiangsu Province is home to China's largest vegetable oil importing port.
Imported vegetable oil prices continued to rise in Q1, with prices jumping to $1,115 per ton in March from an average of $1,030 per ton in February. Palm oil and soy oil were the two leading vegetable oil ...
