ATLANTA - Golf apparel companies are taking a swing at going green this year.
The sport of golf, which requires great swaths of land for its courses and is fond of mercerized shirts, isn't exactly known for being eco-friendly, but companies such as Ashworth, Tehama, Greg Norman Collection and Imperial Headwear all introduced eco-friendly collections at the 2008 PGA Merchandise Show in January. Izod G, Ping and Cutter & Buck, meanwhile, introduced shirts using Cocona last year, a natural technology derived from coconut shells.
