President Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad on April 8 said Iran had begun installing an additional 6,000 uranium enrichment centrifuges at its main nuclear facility. This would enable Iran to triple its current capacity to enrich uranium to produce nuclear fuel or weapons grade material.
During a visit to the plant to mark National Nuclear Technology Day, Ahmadi-Nejad said: "Today, the process of installing 6,000 new centrifuges at the facility in Natanz has begun". The FT on April 9 quoted an Iranian nuclear official as saying the additional centrifuges had begun to be installed "some weeks" earlier.
However, it takes time to install centrifuges and make them operate smoothly. ...
