POLICE dog Zak changed from criminal catcher to lifesaver ... all thanks to a blood donation.
The four-year-old German Shepherd came to the rescue when a sick cocker spaniel desperately needed blood if it was to survive.
Vets at Broadleys animal hospital in Stirling made an urgent call to Central Scotland Police knowing that all 15 of the force's dogs are registered blood donors.
Dog section sergeant Cameron Shanks said: "This is the first time that any of our dogs have been requested to supply a blood donation.
