Where were the Games?
Olympia, the site of the ancient Olympic Games, is in the western part of the Peloponnese, in Greece. Central Olympia held the grand temple of Zeus. The temple of Hera was parallel to it. The ancient stadium in Olympia could hold 40,000 spectators. The surrounding area had buildings that became training sites for the athletes or to house the judges of the Games.
How was peace ensured?
A truce would be called, suspending all hostilities for three months, so that the often-battling Greek cities could gather at Olympia to compete.

All free male Greek citizens could participate in the ancient Olympic Games, ...
