Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is not just a children's condition. It affects up to five percent of American adults, the majority of whom are not receiving the treatment they need to help them cope with the challenges of this serious neurobehavioral disorder. Although many people with ADHD are diagnosed in childhood, a large number are not diagnosed until well into adulthood, when it becomes apparent that ADHD symptoms are interfering with their ability to handle the complex demands of work, family, and other responsibilities.
