An estimated 25 million Americans have varicose veins-most of them women over age 50. Varicose veins usually appear as unsightly purple or blue rope-like bulges on the legs.
In the last 10 years, significant advances have been made in varicose vein treatment, resulting in less-invasive procedures and speedier recovery. The latest procedure, called light-assisted stab phlebectomy (LASP), can be performed more quickly-in less than an hour, on average-with even smaller incisions.
