Moderate exercise is key to reducing symptoms of metabolic syndrome; brisk walking for just 30 minutes on most days of the week can decrease your risk factors.(CARDIOVASCULAR FITNESS)

You don't have to be a marathon runner to substantially improve markers of metabolic syndrome, a new study shows. Metabolic syndrome is a group of risk factors that includes abdominal obesity, unhealthy cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, and elevated blood glucose, which increase your risk of heart disease and diabetes.

Gladys Strain, MS, PhD, associate research professor of nutrition at Weill Cornell Medical College, says walking is a great way to improve metabolic syndrome.
