The boy is back, as cute and funky as ever. Which may be part of the problem. Lenny Kravitz sounds just like Lenny Kravitz on this, his eighth studio album. There's nothing new here, just more of the taut, rocking lines that have characterised all of Kravitz's previous releases The same influences - Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, the Beatles - the same stop-start arrangements, the same short, pedal-heavy lead guitar breaks. Critics have called it his best ever, but I'm not convinced. Somebody else called it "beautifully derivative". I'd go with that description, rather.
