A VICAR has been banned from taking church services after leaving hiswife for the woman who helped him choose his hymns.

The actions of the Rev Graham Firth, 69, have devastated his wife of 46 years,who is recovering from breast cancer.

Mr Firth, who had been priest-incharge at the All Saints Church in Elston, nearNewark, Nottinghamshire, for 27 years, retired four years ago. But he continuedto conduct weddings, funerals and some Sunday services.

He embarked on an affair with a helper at one of the churches in his parish,named by his relatives as Christine Rawlings, 59, and has now moved in withher.
