Our parent publication, The Saturday Evening Post, is still seeking volunteers for its study of L-lysine, the amino acid, for the prevention and treatment of cold sores and canker sores. We hope this study will give impetus to FDA approval of the amino acid - as well as make physicians more confident in recommending lysine to their patients.
Caused by the virus herpes simplex, unsightly cold sores appear on the lips - and there is good evidence to suggest they are preventable and treatable with L-lysine and a low-arginine diet.
