When it comes to getting enough calcium, a good old-fashioned glass of milk may still be your best source. Despite the proliferation of supplements on the market, doctors still recommend getting calcium from your diet.

That idea was supported recently by a study of 168 healthy postmenopausal women, who received their calcium either from food sources, supplements or a combination of the two. The women who got their calcium from food sources only and those in the combination group had a higher bone mineral density than those taking supplements only, even though the diet-only group took in the least amount of calcium each day, according to the report in the May 2007 ...
