The probability of developing invasive breast cancer for women ages 60 to 69 is one in 27, according to the American Cancer Society. The risk increases to one in 15 for women age 70 and older. Breast cancer is currently the second-leading cause of cancer death in women (behind lung cancer), but mortality rates from the disease are gradually dropping due to improved treatment and early detection.
Despite recent medical advances, the real key to fighting breast cancer is to reduce your risk of developing the disease, and diet and exercise appear to be the best bets for prevention.
