Dec. 1--Rite Aid, the giant drug store company that has been steamrolling its way into New York, is about to add Staten Island to its conquests by acquiring Revco, another large national chain.
Already the largest chain in New York as well as the nation, Rite Aid announced yesterday that it would buy Revco, the second largest national chain, for $1.8 billion.
Once the deal is completed early next year, all Revco outlets will become Rite Aids, including the 14 on Staten Island. That means Rite Aid, which has no stores in that borough now, will become its largest drug store operator overnight as part of the chain's push to have some 200 stores in the region by ...
