Zolmitriptan, a prescription nasal spray, offers fast, effective relief from cluster headaches, a recent study published in the journal Neurology reported. Cluster headaches, among the most painful of headaches, affect just one-tenth of one percent of Americans, but those who suffer from them have few treatment options. In the study, 52 patients took a five or 10 milligram (mg) dose of zolmitriptan nasal spray or placebo to treat a total of 151 cluster headache episodes.
