Tina Fey didn't hold up a mirror to her own life to play Kate Holbrook in "Baby Mama."

Like Kate, Fey is a smart, successful career woman approaching 40.

But the 37-year-old writer, producer and star of the hit sitcom "30 Rock" is married with a 2 1/2-year-old daughter. Kate is single, and hires a surrogate ("Saturday Night Live" star Amy Poehler) to carry her child.

"Baby Mama," which opens Friday and is Fey's first starring movie role, has another distinction: "With the exception of this movie I have never gotten an acting job in anything that I didn't also at least help write," said Fey, who was head writer ...
