Hotel transactions down in 2007.(News for Appraisal Professionals)

"Last year represented a year of contrasts in the hospitality industry," said Amy Beam, director of hotel transactions for HVS. Such contrasts are evident in the company's newly released Preliminary 2007 Survey of Major U.S. Hotel Transactions, which lists and analyzes major hotel sales occurring in the 2007 calendar year. The survey presents a listing of 215 confirmed sales.

"We forecast approximately 225 major sales will be recorded in 2007," Beam added, "representing a 10 percent decline in number of transactions from 2006. The average price per room is estimated to be $200,000 for a major transaction, roughly 2 percent less than the 2006 average. These major ...
