A TROUBLED community centre is on the road to recovery after an influx of new members.
The Charles Young Centre, in Talbot Road, South Shields, had run into financial trouble due to dwindling numbers of users.
That prompted the centre to make an urgent appeal through the Gazette for help after membership numbers reached an all-time low, and that rallying cry is already paying off.
Staff at the centre have reported a boost in new members, and old ones coming back, after its plight was highlighted on our front page two weeks ago.
Now they are hopeful that the centre has turned a corner and can thrive again.
