"The prairie chicken dance has been one of the main dances of my people ever since," explained Blackfoot storyteller and author Tref Deerfoot, who has been invited to perform the chicken dance in China this August.
After watching Deerfoot and his Blackfoot Medicine Speaks performance group on stage at the opening of the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C., last summer, the Ukranian Cheremosh Dancers asked them to join their China tour. "We were down there as part of a contingent promoting Alberta tourism and when we performed, people were overwhelmed.
